visiting my sister

This past weekend Adam and I went to visit my sister. She's been wanting to paint... so I helped her pick colors! We bought, I mean she bought, 5 gallons of paint. We only got 1 room painted but so far it is looking good!
Inspiration Room:Cali loves this blue color, as you can tell by just some of the other items around her house. Her room still needs to be put back together, then accessorized but the wall color looks perfect! Step 1, accomplished! to be continued...

New house numbers are up!

When we visited our house for the first time and saw the hideous house numbers out front and the light we both said, "those have gotta go!" We changed the light last summer but for some reason we didn't tackle the numbers, until now. For Christmas my mom got us new numbers that were exactly the style we were wanting! (thanks mom) 2 months later... THEY ARE UP! woo-hoo!
Walking in for the first time after we got the keys. Check out the horrible reflective 'sticker numbers' and boring old fixture. FYI the hose reel has also been removed!
Oh, and the front door is new! and the windows...
New modern house numbers! The light fixture is actually a bathroom light fixture from IKEA, LILLHOLMEN Wall lamp. It was only $12.99 so at the time we thought anything was better than what used to be up there, so we got it. Now it's kinda grown on us. :-)
Maybe next summer we'll paint the house..?

Living Room: Before, Before, Before, Before & After

I keep making changes to the living room (for anyone who knows me, that is not out of the ordinary) improvements I think, I hope. Since the last living room post I've gotten new toss pillows (Target $6.98! each) a new rug (Target $49.98!) New credenza (Salvation Army + TLC $22.00!) New Coffee Table (Craigslist + TLC $12!) I love Clearance and money saving DIY projects!

Credenza - DONE!

I've been wanting a new media storage cabinet since the one we were using was way too small and was never intended for under TV storage. The ones I liked of course were way out of our price range (I must have really good taste!) I've been looking on Craigslist & Goodwill and finally, I found one at Salvation Army on a half price sale! With a little TLC our new credenza turned out Perfect!! It is exactly what I was wanting. Plenty of room for the Playstation & Wii + extra storage for remotes, laptop, magazines,... It got a complete sand-down, new dark stain, white painted drawer fronts & I re-wood-glued the drawers. Adam even drilled a hole in the back for cords to come out of. It's a perfect fit to our living room & a very successful DIY project!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Homemade cards (1 from Adam, 1 from Charlie & Hamilton) + Breakfast in bed = a perfect day! Happy Valentine's Day! "Roses are red, Greenies are green. I love you, and dad is mean! love - Charles P.S. I drooled in your food.."

New Credenza - in the works

Last Saturday I went Antiquing with a friend. While we were out we went to Salvation Army. They were having a 50% off everything in the store sale! I found a perfect credenza to fix up and put under our TV. It was only $22!! + a little elbow greese to sand, stain, and paint. Here is my process so far. Hopefully by the end of the week it will be up and in use! (the rain & humidity is delaying my process!)
